Couldest not thou watch...

I am working in the Seattle Temple now and I am having amazing experiences. The demeanor of the sisters I work with has impacted me for the good. Being around women in the business world, you have a different experience then being around women in the Temple; joined as sisters united in Christ. I am making such wonderful friendships that I assume will last a lifetime.

 

One recent experience humbled me. There are Temple workers throughout the Temple at different post's available to help. One such post is at the entrance of the Temple, one or two sisters stand at the front in case someone needs directions or questions; you are at this post for 1 hour. There is not that much interaction here, especially so early in the morning. I was standing there alone for 10 minutes and it felt like 45 minutes...you know the feeling, like you're watching paint dry. The spirit gently nudged me and a scripture came to mind...Could not thou watch one hour?  I prayed for forgiveness and a renewed attitude followed. After 30 minutes, a Bishop from a previous ward came through the doors with his wife and their son who was going through the Temple for the first time before his mission. It was a choice experience welcoming them on such a special day and my heart swelled with good memories from my own first time going through the Temple before my mission.

The take away for me was, The Savior ask's so little from me and yet has given so much to me; providing the very way back to Him and Heavenly Father. I am truly grateful for Him and His influence in my life.

Teaching Moments

Yesterday was a tough day,
It could have been the worst ever.
A kindergartener with pink eye
who can't touch anything or anyone is hard enough
Add a two year old who love to wrestle 
it is nearly an impossible day.

But keep in mind the Lord gives us these challenges
to mold and shape us to the person he wants us to be.
We must recognize the teaching moments
in the midst of the mud and muck of the day.

A trip to the doc, for meds and drops
a promise of pizza on the way home.
Mr. J doesn't listen to me in the pharmacy
the pizza is no more. 
It is hard to enforce the rules everyday
but worth it in the end,
when my boys show respect to me and to others,
the teaching moment has taken effect.

Another teaching moment comes late in the day,
FHE learning to choose good friends.
I learn about each child and their kind ways
and teach them how they are a child of God.
I see my sweet boys how Heavenly Father must
and the potential they hold inside.

We make friend-chip cookies to show our love for each other
and to spread a little cheer to our friends.
I look forward to the next day, and the next
hoping to make the most of the teaching moments I get.

Laugh 'til it Hurts

Things that inspire me are sometimes random acts of uncontrollable laughter, something that can make me laugh from deep down inside.  I ran across such a document that made me laugh so hard I could barely speak and my family members were concerned for me.   I don't have any daughters, however, I do have three son's and I can only imagine what they would do if they had to fill out an application like this one

What is the pure love of Christ?

These past 6 days have I felt a greater love for my Savior?

Have I felt his love?

"There are others among us who search for light in their lives. One such young man had broken many of the laws of the land and had been punished by a prison sentence. He even escaped from prison, only to be caught and reincarcerated a short time later. His was truly a life of darkness and misery, but through the constant efforts of a caring bishop, this young man decided to change his ways and return to Christ. With a meek and lowly heart he began to repent, and the Spirit of the Holy Ghost touched his heart.
As he prepared to leave prison after serving his term, there to greet him at the gate were his bishop, who had worked with him all those years, and he brought with him his father, mother, brothers, and sisters, who received him with open arms and great rejoicing. What a deep appreciation this young man had for his bishop and his family, who had stood by him even though he had caused them much embarrassment and many sleepless nights with his wayward activities. But their faith never wavered, and indeed a miracle was wrought. Today, this young man serves as the elders quorum president of his ward.
What great force changed the life of this young man from one of spiritual darkness to one of truth and light? It was the pure love of Christ, which the bishop portrayed as he worked with him. And this pure love of Christ is charity. (See Moro. 7:47.)"

How can the Holy Ghost help me become more like Christ?

President Wilford Woodruff called the gift of the Holy Ghost the greatest Gift we can receive in mortality.

What am I doing to accomplish the Holy Ghost being my constant companion?

D&C 121:46 The Holy Ghost shall be thy constant ^acompanion, and thy scepter an unchanging scepter of ^brighteousness and truth; and thy ^cdominion shall be an everlasting dominion, and without compulsory means it shall flow unto thee forever and ever.

"The Bible’s teachings about the Holy Ghost are reaffirmed and elaborated in the Book of Mormon and in modern revelations. The Holy Ghost is the means by which God inspires and reveals his will to his children (e.g., D&C 8:2–3). The Holy Ghost bears record of the Father and of the Son (see 3 Ne. 28:11; D&C 20:27; D&C 42:17). He enlightens our minds and fills us with joy (see D&C 11:13). By the power of the Holy Ghost we may know the truth of all things (see Moro. 10:5). By his power we may have the mysteries of God unfolded to us (see 1 Ne. 10:19), all things which are expedient (see D&C 18:18; D&C 39:6). The Holy Ghost shows us what we should do (see 2 Ne. 32:5).
